TUN OIL PIPELINES

Tun Oil has completed application process to Turkish government for two different crude oil pipeline projects to by-pass Turkey .
• Tun Oil Trans Thrace Project: 70 km + 210 km of two stage project at Saray, Ambarli, Saroz route
• Tun Oil Trans Anatolia Project: 553 km pipeline project at Samsun Sivas Ceyhan route.

Purpose of the projects

To provide a stable and convenient alternative to transport crude oil from Black Sea to Mediterranean Sea by eliminating the limitations of Turkish Straits.
• Tun Oil has two alternative projects.
• Tun Oil Trans Thrace project is the most economic and fastest applicable solution at this
route and the most economic and fastest applicable solution among all alternatives.
• Tun Oil Trans Anatolia project is best pre-studied solution on this route, where this route is
politically supported by Turkish Government.

Strategic Appreciation

• The countries in the Black Sea and Caspian Region, such as Russia , Azerbaijan , Kazakhstan
and Turkmenistan , have significant reserves of oil and gas. The offshore deposits just in the
Caspian Sea are estimated to be in the range of more than two billion tonnes. Unfortunately, the
land-locked location and insufficient existing infrastructure for transporting oil to
international markets has limited the region's ability to exploit these valuable resources.
• Novorrosiysk and Supsa marine terminals became huge oil export terminals in the black sea and
unfortunately the environmentally sensitive Turkish Bosporus strait has become an oil route t
the world markets. • Tun Oil pipeline projects create an added value by building up additional throughput capacity
within a very short time frame.

Saray-Ambarlı-Saros Pipeline

The Saray-Ambarlı-Saros Pipeline represents a feasible option to transport crude oil from the
Black Sea region to the international markets. A system comprising a 46"-diameter pipeline and
two pump stations would be capable of shipping up to 70 million tonnes per year to the
Mediterranean. With a total length of 288 kilometers, this pipeline would cross the Thrace
region of Turkey. The investment cost is estimated to be approximately USD 783,5 million. The
project could be realised in less than 4 years, including engineering, tendering and
construction. However, the construction and testing stages of two terminals will not exceed the
time of 18 months. Therefore, the stipulated timeline is two year period for the partial
operation of project and a four year period for the complete operation of the project.
"Tunoil" prepared the "Saray-Ambarlı-Saros Crude Oil Pipeline project and General Environmental
Assessment". Tunoil's application file of this project to Republic of Turkey General Directorate
of Petroleum Affairs has been registered and announced on the official newspaper in Turkey.
The project starts from the Black Sea cost and ends in the Aegean Sea (Mediterranean Sea) cost
bypassing Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits of Turkey. It consist of 288 kilometers pipeline
between two sea ports (one at each side), one marine terminal in Mediterranean side and one
marine terminal in between (Ambarli).
As part of the development of the conceptual design of the crude oil export marine terminals,
the project has considered utilizing existing facilities of the company at Ambarli. Terminal is
currently dedicated to the loading of oil products.
It will serve two principal purposes within coverage of this project: ensuring to enter into
partial operation following the constructions of Black Sea - Ambarli transport lines of the
project and forming the second region of exit terminal at the middle of Marmara Sea and
presenting an alternative region of shipment.
Novorossiysk and Supsa marine terminals became as huge oil export terminals in the black sea and
unfortunately the environmentally sensitive Turkish Bosphorus strait has become an oil route to
the world markets. Nevertheless, there exists the urgent need for a large-scale crude oil
transport option to by-pass first the Bosporus and then the Dardanelles. The Saray-Ambarlı-Saroz
Pipeline is a feasible option for such a Main By-pass Pipeline.
